There was a bulge showing near the front of the camper, dealer inspected and said there is frame flex, possibly broken welds on the frame, which is a common problem with the lippert manufactured frames. Model years directly before this year(2022) were recalled for the same problem. This seems to be a common issue for 2022 models as well but there still is no safety recall despite the inherent risk of them being on the road.
Vehicle was taken to the RV dealer to have annual maintenance done. During inspection it was discovered that 3 of 4 brakes were covered with grease from blown bearing seals. The vehicle has less than 3,000 miles and if not addressed could have resulted in an accident due to inability to stop the trailer using the designed braking systems. The supplier of the axles and brake systems was contacted and they informed us the seals are only warranted for 1 year. Vehicle is a 2022 Keystone Cougar 29RLI recreational vehicle. Safety issue is with the Solara awnings manufactured by Lippert. Awning fabric appeared to only be glued to the poly cord that secures it to the trailer. While we were setup, the awning roller fell away from the trailer. If we had been in transit, it could have hit a car in an adjacent lane, causing an accident. The rear awning is also failing but is still mostly in tact.
