The whole instrument cluster went dark suddenly while driving. I had no idea what speed I was going. Eventually I was able to safely pull over to check what was happening. There were no warnings. We checked the instrument cluster dimming and this made no difference. We tested the lights, indicators and brake lights and all were functioning. It was very disconcerting. As we were in small town there was no Mercedes dealer to check with. I did a quick search and found some interesting comments saying it's a "common" fault and giving suggestions on how to fix it.
