How to read the table
NHTSA assigns each campaign one or more component categories chosen by the manufacturer and NHTSA staff. A campaign that lists two categories is counted once in each row, so the rows add up to more than the number of campaigns. The last column shows in how many of the model years in the window at least one campaign lists that category. It is a count of years, not of vehicles.

The labels are NHTSA's own. The "Equipment" categories mark recalls of parts or accessories, such as appliances or trailer equipment, and are not vehicle systems. A category name says which system a notice files the defect under. It does not say how serious the defect is.
